About Candy

Hello there!

Thanks for reading my blog, Candy Wanders. Feel free to wander around, submit comments, and follow me!

Q: What is the story behind your blog name?
A: The wandering part comes from my obsession with traveling to other places. It also comes from Gertrude Stein's short story "Melanctha." Sometimes, wandering isn't just physical. We wander through our relationships, through tough ideas, and generally through life.

Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Seoul, South Korea. I came to the United States when I was a baby, and grew up in New Jersey.

Q: Is Candy your real name?
A: Legally, no. I've been called Candy as far back as I can remember, so I consider it my "real" name. My legal name is my Korean name, Narae (나래).

Q: Where do you live right now?
A: I go to school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee so I would say I live mostly in Tennessee, but my home is in New Jersey.

Q: Where have you traveled?
A: Countries I've spent time in outside of North America are South Korea, Ivory Coast, and Kenya.

Q: What do you want to do in the future?
A: I would love to teach overseas after graduating school. No matter where I am or what I do, I want to be surrounded by people I can love.
